“What do you want to be when you grow up?” I can remember countless times being asked this question. For some, the answer comes easily, while others spend their entire lifetime trying to figure it out. Our SolidWorks Summer Kids Camps have proven to be a great opportunity to learn about 3D design and Stratasys 3D Printing. We asked those attending what they want to be when they grow up and here is a sample of what they said: architect, football player, electrical engineer, doctor, singer, underwater photographer, and even cowgirl.
Allowing our youth to experience the CAD world opens up their mind to career options they might not have previously considered and while some wanted to simply know what it is their parents do for a living, it was a surprise to many to learn just how much fun the design world really is. Who doesn’t want to grow up and LOVE their job!
The enthusiasm and energy these bright young minds brought to our offices was astounding! As our summer camps come to a close this week, thank you to everyone that has attended and we welcome you to tell us your story.
My 8 year old son, Jake, was in your class Tuesday and I have to say the day ended up being much more than I ever could have expected. Being a Product Design consultant I work from home, so Jake sees me work with Solidworks. Consequently, he is aware of the concept of 3D modeling but never tried CAD until your Kid’s Camp. I have to say I was shocked by how much he learned. A picture being worth a thousand words, he came home and with very little help he modeled this bridge part for his slot car track. We then printed it with my MakerBot and now he shows it to everyone and anyone he meets. He and I are very proud of his new skills. I can easily see how this could be a real milestone event in his life.I can’t thank you and GoEngineer enough. – John
