Many new administrators and users of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform often have questions about Collaborative Spaces—specifically, their visibility settings and member permissions. While this can be confusing at first, the information and tables below will help you implement Collaborative Spaces effectively.

When working with SOLIDWORKS PDM in Windows File Explorer, you have several view options available. One of the most useful is the Details View, as shown in the screenshot below. If your vault frequently opens files in a different view, such as when opening a new folder or using the Save dialog in other applications, you may find yourself constantly switching back to Details View. To save time and avoid this repetitive task, you can set Details View as the default using Windows Folder settings.

The SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal Lofted-Bend command is an efficient way to create odd-shaped sheet metal parts. A Sheet Metal Lofted-Bend is similar to the SOLIDWORKS Loft and Boundary features, in that they require two or more profiles. The main difference is that the Sheet Metal Lofted-Bend doesn’t require a guide curve, and the contours need to be open.

American producers are facing significant challenges due to recent tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. These tariffs are an economic punch to a manufacturer’s bottom line. Automotive, Aerospace, Consumer Tech: these industries don't just rely on imports, they're built on them. Rebuilding such fundamental supply chains is not just a source problem; it’s a logistical nightmare that could take years to resolve. As the costs of these changes ripple through production, manufacturers are forced to make difficult decisions.

CATIA May 01, 2025

For some, the idea of designing products with an Excel spreadsheet may seem far-fetched. How can a spreadsheet have anything to do with the design process? A spreadsheet contains only rows and columns of data, right? There is no doubt that spreadsheet data will never replace feature-based geometric modeling. However, a spreadsheet can perfectly complement the parameterization of a part model where several configurations are anticipated. In this blog, we will explore the different Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA solutions that use a spreadsheet to simplify the creation and management of a group of similar parts, commonly called a component family.

In certain instances, it is quicker and easier to make a SOLIDWORKS PDM Local Vault View using a .CVS file, whether that is due to an error with the install, connection with the server, or permissions. If you have an existing Local Vault View and access to the Admin tool you can make the .CVS file from information located in this View. Let's take a look at how to get this information and how to use the .CVS file.

Like any secure application, there may be times when you need to update your SOLIDWORKS PDM password. Whether you’re a PDM administrator updating credentials for a user, or a user changing your own password, the process can be completed through the SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration Tool. Below, we’ll walk through the steps for both scenarios.

Creating custom coordinate systems in SOLIDWORKS is a fundamental skill used for precise positioning, orientation, downstream analyses, and many others. Typically, defining a coordinate system is straightforward: select a vertex for the origin, then choose model edges or reference geometry to establish the x, y, and z axes in the desired orientation:
