During the webinar we cover the basic principles of how scanners work, how they create a point on the surface of the part, and how key specifications like accuracy, resolution and measurement are calculated. There are many different file types associated with reverse engineering, during the video we define common file deliverables like STL, NURBS Surface models, Geometric step files, and native CAD. Along with defining the files, we look at how each one is different and where each are appropriate.
Quality inspection is our second largest project type, so we look into different inspection reports and what information they can provide, something like a basic colormap is great for humanizing data and quickly establishing where deviations may be. A full FAI inspection report takes multiple specific measurements of entities to cover every dimension that’s on an engineering drawing. Finally, GoEngineer also offers unique inspection options like interference checks and virtual assembly analysis to check your parts will fit together BEFORE you find out a problem on the assembly line.
