SOLIDWORKS MBD Webinar - Add Critical Product Manufacturing Information on 3D CAD Models

Let your 3D CAD Model define your Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) instead of a 2D drawing! In this webinar, we’ll show you how to define, organize and communicate your critical PMI with SOLIDWORKS MBD. Typically, when you’re designing your products, you will use a solid modeler, like SOLIDWORKS, to create a feature-based model of the overall shape for each component. When it’s time to communicate your designs, you then have to translate that 3D model to a 2D drawing that defines dimensions, tolerances, and other manufacturing data. The 2D drawing is then interpreted and a physical 3D model is produced. Sometimes, you’ll end up spending the same amount of time creating your 2D drawing as you did to create the 3D model, just to make sure you have everything you need for someone to manufacture your designs. What if we could simply bypass the 2D process and store all our critical Product Manufacturing Information, or PMI, directly on the 3D model? We’re going to show how you can do this with SOLIDWORKS MO
DEL BASED DEFINITION, or MBD. The first thing we’re going to do is show you how to define your critical PMI directly onto the 3D CAD model. Next, we’ll show you how to organize all of your PMI, so it’s easier to consume what you’ve put on your model. And finally, we’ll show you how you can communicate your PMI so others can interact with this information to clearly see where an annotation is being called out on the 3D CAD model.
