In this video I will be showing how to use a variable from the source file in a task output file name. This video applies to both SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional and SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard. Prior to SOLIDWORKS PDM 2017 service pack zero it was necessary to modify the task generation script (instructions were given in Knowledge Base article S-054527 – “How to modify convert task to use configuration specific variable value from source file in output file name”). After 2017 sp0 it is possible to simply select the variable as part of the file name when specifying where to save the output file.
