Walk-through of how adjusting support settings will reduce the time and material it takes to complete a print job. Specifically, we’re working with a customer part that is gasket-like or washer-like in nature. These adjustments will work well with any part regardless of part geometry. However, this part sees a significant overall time and material usage improvement because it is so thin. In a production setting, where only one can be printed at a time and larger quantities are needed, any improvement is a great one. Insight tends to default printing an entire bed of support material underneath and around the perimeter of a part. This includes the space on the build plate, within the perimeter, regardless of having model material above it or not. The intent of this feature is to create good adhesion to the build plate.
