New materials, developed specifically to match anatomical requirements, help make this solution reality. TissueMatrix, BoneMatrix, and GelMatrix are combined during the print process to in the same way a desktop printer combines CYMK ink to achieve hundreds of thousands of colors (which, by the way, the J750 can also do!). Think of it this way: instead of loading CMYK inks you are loading flesh, fat. bone, connective tissue, skin and the printer is outputting ultra-realistic anatomical models.
The hardware is important – the ability to print 6 materials simultaneously (and a water-soluble support) is a pre-requisite to creating hyper-realistic anatomical models. But an easy-to-use software, with drop-down menus for 100+ anatomical presets, is what empowers the everyday user to take advantage of the J750 DAP. Complex internal structures and regions are built at the voxel level automatically by GrabCAD Print. Only a few clicks are required to print calcified blood vessels or cardiac blood clots – no medical experience necessary.

The J750 DAP shares the same hardware as a standard J750 with the Advanced Performance Upgrade. The DAP can be configured and used as a standard J750, and an existing J750 can be upgraded to become a Digital Anatomy Printer.
Source files can be obtained from imaging data (X-ray, CT, MRI, EKG, etc) or engineered models. Imaging files, such as DICOMM, may require some segmentation before loading into the GrabCAD Print software. Once the outside shape is loaded into GrabCAD Print, the operators controls the inside structure through a series of drop-down menus. Simple!
Great question – you may be in the vascular field if you are concerned about clearing long, winding, narrow passages of support material. Stratasys developed GelMatrix material and the new Blood Vessel Cleaning Station to make this process possible. The cleaning station is sized to handle 2 full size TAVR/Neuro models at a time, and provides an unattended cleaning experience.
