3D Creator

Featuring the xDesign Parts and Assemblies Application

Unlock THe Power of xDesign

The 3D Creator Role is perfect for users looking for a cloud-based Computer Aided Design (CAD) solution. Create parametric parts and assemblies using the xDesign Application. Collaborate seamlessly with other team members on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

Create Parametric 3D Models

Create basic geometry with familiar commands for 2D sketching, contextual baseline dimensioning and spines using the xDesign Application. Extrude these shapes with familiar surfacing and solid features such as extrude boss, revolve, sweep, loft, and hole wizard. Included are familiar evaluation tools such as Interference Detection, Insert Sketch Picture, Mass Evaluation, Draft Analysis and measuring tools.

Unified Property Manager

The Unified Property Manager allows users to add and subtract features, bodies, and surfaces with directions and conditions. Creating new features is faster than ever. Many features don't even require a sketch. For instance, if there is geometry in the model, simply select extrude on a planar face to automatically extrude. The Unified Property Manger to allows the adding of new material, new separate bodies, cuts, thin features or surfaces quickly and easily.

SOLIDWORKS Connector

For users who also have SOLIDWORKS and want to use SOLIDWORKS in conjunction with the Platform-based design roles, it's possible using the SOLIDWORKS Connector. The Connector allows SOLIDWORKS Users to access 3DEXPERIENCE Platform tools from within the SOLIDWORKS interface. Native SOLIDWORKS files can be uploaded to the platform for review and collaboration, then brought back to SOLIDWORKS through the connector for native design changes. This allows you and your team to collaborate with team members in other locations more seamlessly, and without the need for expensive server installations and IT overhead.

SOLIDWORKS Connector Available wiith 3DExperience

xDesign does not currently allow for sheet metal or weldments design. Thin components can still be designed, and profiles can still be swept or extruded using xDesign. Other roles on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform will include functionality to design in sheet metal and weldments in future releases.
Currently, there is no drawing functionality built into the 3D Creator role, but there will be a native client application for Drawings associated with the Drafter role that will work seamlessly with the models created using xDesign.
This functionality does not exist at this time but surface and solid lofting is available.
No. Only Neutral CAD files can be shared across applications. All bodies will come in as “Imported”, however both applications allow for the direct editing of neutral CAD files. xDesign and xShape models can exported in .sldxml, .3dxml, .step, .stl, .iges formats. Sldxml will preserve the assembly hierarchy between xDesign and SOLIDWORKS.
