The 3D Sculptor Role allows users to create complex organic shapes or advanced surfaces using Subdivision (Sub-D) modeling from within the xShape Application. Start with available simple 3D and 2D ‘digital playdough’ shapes, then push and pull those simple shapes to create more complex shapes. Add those complex shapes to an imported body or existing parametric designs from xDesign, all in the same unified environment as xDesign. Completely cloud-based and integrated on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform
Directly edit the surface of the model by selecting edges, nodes or subdivided faces. The xShape Application within the 3D Sculptor Role has advanced options to allow for greater control over the manipulation of selected entities, with available tools such as flex deformation, extrude faces, insert loops, align cage points, subdivide faces and symmetry controls. Simply select the area of the model that needs to be edited then push and pull to the desired shape.
The subdivision primitive starts as a surface that can be manipulated with the robot handle. In order for this organic shape to become a solid it must be knitted. This process is done automatically once the subdivision is complete. Faces can be deleted to turn that knitted solid into a knitted surface as well. This facilitates and solidifies the completion of complex shapes automatically.
Create planar faces on organic shapes by creasing the edge loops. This can turn a complex shape with many curves and allow for portions to be flattened at various degrees of flatness.
