In SOLIDWORKS 2023 and older, while the value of a mass property can be calculated and updated, the unit notation is not. This blog describes a workaround for displaying and converting mass properties automatically, with appropriate units displayed. These behaviors will then be codified using SOLIDWORKS Equations into a document template so that it’s easy to use and deploy across multiple documents in the future. Arithmetic conversions of units are accomplished using Equations in the Equations Manager, as a custom property cannot evaluate an arithmetic expression with text at the end.

SOLIDWORKS Electrical Sep 09, 2025

SOLIDWORKS Electrical is a powerful schematic package that is built on an SQL database. It brings a wealth of benefits, like real-time project collaboration and smooth part organization. Thanks to this architecture, users can effortlessly create nearly any report and design rule check they might need for their projects.

CATIA Sep 08, 2025

When launching CATIA V5 on a Windows 11 machine, you might notice a black command prompt window displaying the message, "This application is now HighDPI aware.” This message relates to how Windows manages display scaling on high-resolution screens. DPI, or Dots Per Inch, measures how many pixels are packed into a given area of the screen—higher DPI settings lead to crisper, more detailed visuals. However, this can also shrink user interface elements, making them harder to read or click.

Abaqus Sep 04, 2025

A common problem in nonlinear static finite-element simulations is the presence of instabilities leading to non-convergence. Instabilities are often subtle and easily missed, leaving the analyst largely unaware of why the simulation failed and what to correct to get to a converged solution. So, it is perhaps not surprising that Abaqus users often default to running simulations using automatic stabilization associated with the step definition (also known as static stabilization) to troubleshoot problematic models. However, automatic stabilization is not intended to be used as a one-size-fits-all tool to solve instabilities. In fact, when used inappropriately, it can produce unrealistic results that could lead to costly product failures.

SIMULATION Sep 04, 2025

GoEngineer's simulation team can best be demonstrated by introducing some of the individual members. If your company needs simulation support, these are among the people ready to assist you.

DraftSight Sep 04, 2025

DraftSight contains a generic G-code generation tool that can take .dwg or .dxf geometry and generate machine code. It is important to note that this tool does not generate machine-specific code; you can use some of the tools we will discuss here to add machine-specific options to the beginning or the end of the code, but the G-code generated here should be inspected thoroughly for compatibility with your CNC machine before running any program with a live tool.

SOLIDWORKS Visualize Sep 02, 2025

This blog explains everything pertaining to installing and configuring SOLIDWORKS Visualize, including Visualize Boost and Render Cluster.

Cyclic Symmetry is a handy fixture in SOLIDWORKS Simulation that is often used to save on resources and calculation time. However, an error can occur when working with cyclic symmetry on turn geometry. The error message states, “Source projection at Cyclic symmetry. Pair Cyclic Symmetry-1 is not fully enclosed within the target”. There are a couple of issues that will cause this error.

3DEXPERIENCE Design Aug 28, 2025

If your company uses 3DEXPERIENCE, you’ve likely encountered the 3DEXPERIENCE login box in SOLIDWORKS. Whether you’re new to cloud-connected tools or just want to understand the basics, this post will walk you through how to log in, how to log out, and what the Remember Me checkbox actually does.
