Earlier this month, a Boy Scout troop from Bella Vista, Arkansas drove 3.5 hours to attend our SOLIDWORKS and Stratasys Kids’ Camp at the GoEngineer office in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Fourteen boys from 10 to 14 years old earned their engineering merit badges by completing the class, which was taught by Dane Potter with Tandy Banks assisting—both are GoEngineer Application Engineers.
Troop Advisor, Chris Klein, attended one of our SOLIDWORKS training classes earlier in the year for his job. When he learned about Kids’ Camps, he asked if his Boy Scout troop could partake in this unique and valuable opportunity.
The scouts spent the morning learning about various engineering disciplines, applications, and processes. Then, they were led by instruction through part design in SOLIDWORKS.
The kids really enjoyed the 3D printing aspect to the class, especially seeing their designs come to life. And the highlight of the day: getting to test fly their creations outside the classroom.
Glad we could make this happen for this troop of young men—looking forward to the Girl Scout troop next year!
