SOLIDWORKS Visualize Apr 08, 2024

Textures add depth and interest to everything from food to art, and the same is true for Visualize Appearances. Without textures, surfaces in Visualize can look flat or unrealistic, so let’s look at ways we can add and manipulate textures in SOLIDWORKS Visualize.

3D Printing Mar 21, 2024

GoEngineer's latest Community Design Contest challenged SOLIDWORKS designers to produce their dream desk accessory. Entries ranged from pen cups to headphone stands, but the winning design was a striking and hyper-personalized desk organizer from Mitchell Sherry titled, the "Bring Back the Cool" desk organizer.

SOLIDWORKS Composer Mar 04, 2024

SOLIDWORKS Composer files (like SOLIDWORKS files) contain important model information that can be used to manufacture a model. This information can also be used to reverse-engineer a model, potentially compromising your intellectual property. In this article, learn how to protect files and your intellectual property from unscrupulous (or unknown) viewers.

SOLIDWORKS Composer Dec 11, 2023

SOLIDWORKS Composer imports SOLIDWORKS models so users can create graphical content and share projects with a wider audience. However, sometimes models import with missing actors or components - usually due to components loading in lightweight mode within SOLIDWORKS or import settings within Composer that exclude surface bodies.

SOLIDWORKS CAD Nov 28, 2023

PhotoView 360 for SOLIDWORKS is being retired after version 2023 SP5. If you currently use PhotoView 360 and have already updated to SP3, you might have seen a message about this. Starting with SOLIDWORKS 2024 SP0 (released in November 2023), the PhotoView 360 add-in will no longer be included with SOLIDWORKS Office, SOLIDWORKS Professional, and SOLIDWORKS Premium. Users will instead have access to Visualize for all of their rendering needs.

SOLIDWORKS Visualize Oct 23, 2023

SOLIDWORKS Visualize enables sales and marketing to rapidly create high-quality photorealistic renderings from CAD designs. New enhancements to SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2024 make the job easier, faster, and more accurate than ever. Some of these upgrades might be familiar, as they were added to Visualize 2023 after SP3. Let’s look at a full rundown of all the new features added within the last year.

SOLIDWORKS Composer Oct 04, 2023

In SOLIDWORKS Composer, users can set up actors to constrain motion in a project. Doing so lets us specify the ways in which specific actors can move, effectively limiting their degrees of freedom. This controlled motion is similar to how mates can be used in SOLIDWORKS assemblies to do the same.

SOLIDWORKS Inspection Sep 19, 2023

Getting an Inspection drawing set up so that the inspector can clearly interpret it is vital. One way SOLIDWORKS Inspection can help is by creating sub-balloons. In this tutorial, we explain how to do so in the Standalone interface.

The SOLIDWORKS Rx log includes information like machine specs, registry information, event logs, a video recording of you recreating the behavior, and a Pack & Go of the affected files. This article includes the instructions for running a SOLIDWORKS Rx problem capture in SOLIDWORKSSOLIDWORKS Electrical, and SOLIDWORKS Composer. (It can also capture behavior in File Explorer, eDrawings, and Visualize, which we'll also cover.)
