In this video, we will showcase a process I call feature-first. Ever eat dinner with some who eats dessert before the main course? Seems so odd yet at the end of the night we ate the same amount of food. Well, the feature-first approach is like eating dessert first. A normal workflow is to pick a profile we want to build our part from. This is where we are going to deviate, normally we pick a plane, make a sketch, fully defined the sketch, exit the sketch, and go find the feature we want to create our part or feature from. With the feature-first, we are going to pick our feature first, pick a plane and we are automatically in the sketch. Once we have our sketch defined, we will reduce mouse travel time by hitting the “D” key. This key moves the command confirmation to where the mouse pointer is located. With the feature-first when we confirm this is the sketch profile, we want the feature to be automatically initiated and all we must do now is set the properties the feature manager hit the D key. This is a cool way to design and a significant time saver, give it a try.
