Large-Format FDM Printing for
Production-Ready Tooling

The Stratasys F870™ brings large-format industrial 3D printing to the factory floor, making it easier to produce oversized tooling, fixtures, manufacturing aids, and functional prototypes in-house. Its robust FDM platform is designed for demanding production environments, delivering durable parts while helping manufacturers reduce lead times, simplify tooling workflows, and spend less time waiting on traditionally fabricated components.

Large Build Volume & Heated Chamber

The F870 provides a 1,000 x 610 x 610 mm build volume, allowing manufacturers to print large tooling and full-scale components in a single build. Its 95°C heated chamber helps maintain a consistent thermal environment throughout the build, supporting dimensional stability and reducing warping on large parts.

The F850's 1,000 x 610 x 610 mm — the largest fully heated build chamber in its class

Produce large parts with less hands-on oversight with the Stratasys F870

Extended, Unattended Production

Designed for extended, largely unattended operation, the F870 helps manufacturers produce large parts with less hands-on oversight. High-capacity material delivery and automated material changeover minimize interruptions, allowing teams to spend less time managing the printer and more time focused on production.

Flexible Print Head Options

Configure the F870 for the demands of your application with a selection of N-series print heads. Choose the N14 for versatile layer resolution, the hardened N20H for carbon-fiber-reinforced Nylon 12CF, or the high-speed N25 for increased ASA production throughput.

Insight Software for Stratasys 3D Printers

INSIGHT SOFTWARE

OPTIMIZE BUILD OUTPUT FOR 3D PRINTING

Insight software prepares your CAD program’s STL output for 3D manufacturing on a Fortus machine by automatically slicing and generating support structures and material extrusion paths. For maximum control, users can manually edit parameters that determine the look, strength, and precision of parts as well as the speed and material use of the FDM process.

  • Optimize build orientation for maximum strength and smoothest surface finish
  • Customize supports for fast, easy removal and best use of materials
  • Program pauses into the build for any reason, such as to embed hardware or circuitry
  • Manipulate tool paths for advanced control over part properties

Included with Insight is Control Center. This sophisticated software application communicates with user workstations and Fortus systems, to manage jobs and monitor production status. Design, engineering, and manufacturing teams can network and share 3D manufacturing capacity to maximize efficiency and throughput.

*Compatible with GrabCAD Print for use with job reports, scheduling, and remote monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

The F870 requires three-phase 208V, 30A power and operates without shop air because it includes an integrated vacuum pump. Facilities should also allow for forklift access during installation, double-door access for moving the system into place, and approximately 39 inches of clearance on each side of the printer. The recommended operating environment is 59–86°F with 30–70% relative humidity.
Automatic material changeover allows longer print jobs with fewer interruptions. The same high-capacity spool platform is also shared with the Stratasys F3300, which can simplify material inventory for facilities operating both systems.

This FDM printer combines large-format printing with features intended for higher levels of production efficiency, including integrated material drying, automatic material changeover, carbon-fiber material capability, and multiple print head options.

The F870 supports FDM Nylon 12CF, a carbon-fiber-reinforced Nylon material designed for applications requiring high stiffness and strength-to-weight performance. The dedicated N20H hardened print head is designed specifically for processing this composite material, making the system suitable for applications such as structural fixtures, end-of-arm tooling, and lightweight manufacturing tools.
