PREREQUISITES: We recommend completing the SOLIDWORKS Essentials Class or equivalent SOLIDWORKS experience. Access to SOLIDWORKS 2019 or newer and experience with the Windows® operating system.

Lesson 1: 
Utilizing 2D DXF/DWG Data

  • Discover the DXF/DWG Import Wizard
  • Import DXF.DWG data into a drawing or part
  • Use the import options to scale, position & control layers
  • Build a parametric part model from 2D geometry imported into a drawing and part
  • Use the special ‘2D to 3D’ tools to create 3D geometry from imported 2D geometry
  • Create a bent sheet metal model from an imported flat pattern
  • Dissect a DWG file to import an existing title block into a SOLIDWORKS drawing

Lesson 2: 
Importing 3D Geometry

  • Import neutral 3D files
  • Control imported surfaces and curves with import options
  • Use automatic checking and repairing tools
  • Manually fill in gaps with surface features
  • Knit surfaces together
  • Use 3D Sketches and the Fit Spline command to represent missing edges
  • Convert a surface body into a solid body

Lesson 3: 
3D Interconnect

  • Discover the 3D Interconnect functionality
  • Insert an Autodesk® Inventor file into a SOLIDWORKS assembly
  • Insert a PTC® Creo file into a SOLIDWORKS assembly
  • Insert a Solid Edge® file into a SOLIDWORKS assembly
  • Break link to original file for design changes
