SOLIDWORKS 2022 What's New - Cloud Data Management 3DEXPERIENCE

Managing changes to your design data, including toolbox components, is no problem for the SOLIDWORKS Connector on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Once assemblies and drawings are verified to be correct, we can log into the platform - your team’s secure connection to the cloud. The task pane shows which components need to be saved while SOLIDWORKS automatically catalogs and releases the hardware. The save dialog shows exactly items require an update. Any item can be assigned to a bookmark, such as related drawing files. Out of a long list of components like this, Bookmarks are a convenient way to flag them for easy access. Only the new or changed items need to be uploaded to the cloud. This way, network bandwidth is used efficiently while everything is kept up to date. The Bookmarks tab allows you to set the maturity state – in this case, Released. Supporting documents, like this instruction sheet and SOLIDWORKS Composer file, can be previewed interactively without launching external apps.

But what about communicating design change needs between team members? As other users log in, messages can be associated with part files and sent to the appropriate designer. A quick keyword search shows several results. All the property data is there as well as a comment thread. Before making any changes, it’s a good idea to do a where used search. The hand wheel is used in one subassembly below the master hatch assembly. This can be opened right into the modeling session. This version of the subassembly is released. In order to make changes, a new revision needs to be created. The status indicators show that the current assembly structure is out of date, so this can be replaced with the new revisions and set to Reserved. This grants write access to the items you need to modify without locking other users out of the rest of the assembly.

After making some great changes to the hand wheel, the drawing needs to be updated. The drawing is now in sync with the part model, it will now be referenced as Revision B. Out of the box cloud data management combined with the familiar SOLIDWORKS design environment allows you to manage changes and design concurrently.
