SOLIDWORKS PDM - Local Files in the PDM Vault

SOLIDWORKS PDM users depend on files opening the same regardless of which computer they are opened on. If the same file looks different depending on the computer on which it is opened, it is very disconcerting. So, what causes this? It is often the issue that files on one computer have been moved or renamed, but the cached files on the other computers were never removed. These cached files, left behind when the PDM file is moved or renamed, are called “Local Files”. These local files can cause a lot of mischief as SOLIDWORKS sees these files and will use them as it sees fit. The best defense against local files is to search for and delete them on a weekly basis.
