What Is the SOLIDWORKS PDM Archive Consistency Tool?
The SOLIDWORKS PDM Archive Consistency Tool is available as a zip file. Included in that zip file are detailed instructions for how to run the tool, parse it, and create an SQL query to gain more information about the files found. Therefore, this article is merely an introduction to the tool.
About the Archive Consistency Tool
The SOLIDWORKS PDM Archive Consistency Tool compares the files in the archive against the information in the database and creates a text log file with the results. Included with the Archive Consistency Tool is a tool for parsing the log file. Once parsed, sections of the results can be saved as SQL queries. These SQL queries can then be run in SQL Management Studio to gather more information about the problematic files.
When to Run the Tool
This tool is used when problems have been discovered in the archive and can be used to discover the extent of the issue.
In the example below, the Archive Consistency tool can be used to discover how many and which files are missing versions on this archive server.
Example: A user attempts to check out a file, and the request fails due to the error pictured here. This is because the requested file is not on the archive server.
How to Obtain the Tool
The PDM admin/IT would obtain this tool from the Dassault Systèmes knowledge base or by contacting the GoEngineer Technical Support, SOLIDWORKS PDM group. The technician would be the one to provide this tool to the customer.
Who Should Run the Tool?
Since this tool must be run on the archive server as a Windows administrator, someone with that level of access must be the one to run this tool. If your company has multiple archive servers, then the tool should be run on each archive server.
