SOLIDWORKS Tutorial: How to Prevent Add-in from Loading on Startup

This SOLIDWORKS tutorial demonstrates how to forcibly keep the SOLIDWORKS Add-in from loading upon startup. In this example, the SOLIDWORKS Inspection Add-in is the target. This workflow is used to overcome the issue of the SOLIDWORKS Add-in changing the startup setting in the Windows Registry.

This will occur if the Add-in is left active and SOLIDWORKS is closed. It becomes an issue if the Add-in license is a floating license and the next time SOLIDWORKS is opened, it will pull the license for the Add-in and load it whether it was intended or not and will tie up the license for others to access.

By setting the permissions in the SOLIDWORKS AddInsStartup registry keys to read only, it will prevent SOLIDWORKS from writing to the key file and changing the intended startup option.
