SWOOD Network License Activation Guide

This guide provides instructions for installing and activating a new SWOOD Network License to be used with SOLIDWORKS.

Configuration Requirements 

  • SWOOD is compatible with the last 2 years of SOLIDWORKS versions. For example, SWOOD 2024 would be compatible with SOLIDWORKS 2022 until SOLIDWORKS 2024. 
  • The operating systems SWOOD is compatible with are Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit. 
  • Graphics card certified by SOLIDWORKS.
  • 8GB of RAM minimum 
  • A screen resolution of 1280x1024 at minimum. 
  • Hard Drive: 5GB available, including 1GB on the local C: Drive. 

Client Station

The client/user stations must install the same version or a more recent version of SWOOD than the SWOOD Network License Manager.

License Server

  1. Ensure the server station’s session has administration privileges before installing SWOOD Network License Manager. It is also necessary to have the UAC set to the lowest level to avoid any problems during the installation.
  2. Install the SWOOD Network License Server application.
  3. Right-click on the SWOODNetWork Licenses Manager and choose Run as Administrator.

  4. On the Server Administration tab, click Modify.

  5. Choose Activate/Reactivate a software license and then click Next.

  6. Ensure your server name is correct and that the 35565 port number is not in use. Change the port number if it is. If a firewall is used on the server, click the firewall checkbox to allow the 35566 port number. Click Next.

  7. Enter the SWOOD Network Serial Number provided by GoEngineer, as well as a valid e-mail address. Click Next.

  8. When the license is activated, you will see ENABLED under the Status tab. If this does not show, please close the License Manager, open it with admin privileges, and try the activation process again.

  9. Click Finish to complete the activation.
  10. This will take you back to the Network License Manager. Ensure you are on the Server Administration tab. Click Start to start the service.

  11. Once the license server has been started, click on the Use of the license tab. Use the Product dropdown and ensure the correct number of licenses is available for each product you own.

  12. Make note of the Server name (e.g., 35565@EFICAD_004) for use on the client computer. Click OK to close the License Manager.

Network License Client

  1. On the client computer, open the SWOODNetWork License Client from the application list. Ensure you run with administrator privileges the first time.

  2. Select Server tab and choose Add. Type in the server name from the Network License Manager installation. Choose OK to add the server.

  3. Select the Use of the License tab and confirm the products available.

  4. Once connected to the server, close SOLIDWORKS and re-open to activate the SWOOD add-ins. Your usage should now show in the Network License Client.

Troubleshooting

  1. If you are activating SWOOD for the first time, or during an update of SWOOD with a year version, you might receive a pop-up like the one below or with a different ID (-3, -5, -9).

    In this situation, it is suggested to try the activation at least 2 more times.
  2. If you receive the message Cannot connect to the activation server, you may need to allow access.
    1. Solution 1: Create an exception in the firewall for IP address 82.127.168.94 corresponding to the domain activation@eficad.com
    2. Solution 2: Add the hostname in the DNS server (Example shown here: https://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7-hosts-file/ )
