This document is a step-by-step guide covering how to install SOLIDWORKS on a local machine. Before beginning the download and installation process, make sure the computer you are planning to install SOLIDWORKS onto meets the minimum system requirements. You will need a reliable internet connection as well as the 24-digit serial number you received from GoEngineer.

There are two ways to save a SOLIDWORKS file to be used in Adobe Illustrator. The easiest way is to orient the part or assembly how you want to view it, and under the File tab, select Save As… and change the file type to Adobe Illustrator Files (*.ai). This method will work but can often result in a file that is difficult to work with because the file carries over the color gradient into Adobe Illustrator. 

 

Designers are often given scenarios where there is a displacement limit in a design but they need to either find the amount of force that will be required to reach that displacement, or, the displacement limit and force is known, but the design needs to be optimized to work within the given requirements. SOLIDWORKS Simulation is an excellent tool for a situation such as this.
