Emailing is an effective way of communicating your design intent to other people. This article explains an easy way to save SOLIDWORKS attachments from email - specifically Microsoft Outlook.
Although most people tend to use the (Left Mouse Button or LMB) “click, hold and drag” method of their attachment from the inbox to a specific file location, what if you wanted to have additional options before moving that email attachment?
A great technique is to Right Mouse Button or RMB-click the attachment. (Note: Microsoft Outlook is used for this example. Accessibility to email attachments is affected by Anti-Virus, Firewall eMail, and other security settings.)
In the example shown below, I want to save a copy of this SOLIDWORKS file to a specified location on my computer.
RMB-click the Housing.SLDPRT attachment and you are given these additional options.
Next, I have specified the file path location where I would like to save a copy of this attachment to (ref. 1), then select Save (ref. 2).
Now that a copy of this attachment has been officially saved, I will open up that attachment at the specified file path location inside SOLIDWORKS.
