SOLIDWORKS PDM Feb 23, 2026

To search for a SOLIDWORKS PDM variable and have it appear on column sets, it needs to be in your data card first. But what if showing it adds no value to your data cards? This article demonstrates how to include the variable in the data card while keeping it hidden.

SOLIDWORKS is a very graphics-intensive program, so it's best to ensure that your graphics card is certified and the settings are set to achieve the best performance. It may be a good idea to involve your IT team in these steps, as many of them will require administrative computer permissions.

When searching for documents within SOLIDWORKS, the software references a list of search paths, located in System Options > File Locations > Search Path. Before beginning, it is important to note that one of the more widely encountered issues for deleting a vault view in SOLIDWORKS PDM is the error Attached: Missing information, which effectively means the vault view has been attached at some point (perhaps the computer was imaged from another user’s machine or was another user’s machine and the vault view happened to carry over incomplete information). This is generally encountered when trying to set up the vault view for a user and looks something like this:

In 2026, the term “Industrial Clinic” is described as a fundamental shift in healthcare where hospitals and Orthotics & Prosthetics (O&P) facilities move 3D printing from prototyping and fit check to primary production. This transition is powered by HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology, enabling the on-site fabrication of final-use biocompatible medical devices that meet stringent clinical standards - without the lead times of traditional centralized fabrication.

SOLIDWORKS Electrical Feb 13, 2026

SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2D comes with a basic set of wire styles intended as a starting point. Though with any starting point, we can do a lot more. To that end, we will need to customize an existing style or create a new one using the Wire Management tool. This is the central location for wire style information throughout the project. Here we will explore some options for creating customized wire numbers.

When troubleshooting connectivity issues in SOLIDWORKS PDM, creating or modifying a Windows local hosts file can be an effective way to bypass DNS problems and verify that a client workstation can communicate directly with the archive and database server. This is a plain text file that is used to map domain names to IP addresses manually and allows you to control how the machine resolves server names.
