SOLIDWORKS CAD Feb 27, 2026

The CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework) is a component installed by the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager to show content for SOLIDWORKS Applications and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Without it, SOLIDWORKS will not run properly. CEF is an open-source software framework for Chrome used by many other applications (e.g., Adobe, Spotify, Steam, Inventor, Microsoft Power BI, etc.)

Symmetry is a useful tool in SOLIDWORKS Simulation that has many benefits. Some of these include cutting down on the applied fixtures and loads in the study, which in turn cuts down on the used resources and allows the study to be solved in much faster run times. This also helps with improving study accuracy.

Abaqus Feb 25, 2026

GoEngineer's Simulation Team has developed an Abaqus plug-in that allows material data to be imported directly from SOLIDWORKS into Abaqus/CAE, eliminating manual entry and streamlining your analysis workflow.

Did you know that the scene and lighting features used in a SOLIDWORKS model can significantly affect how colors are rendered in simulation result plots? This may lead to shadows, darker colors, and less noticeable color gradients, which can create challenges when interpreting the results of a study. If these issues are not examined closely, potential problems in the design's performance could be overlooked.

In SOLIDWORKS, Pack and Go is a very handy tool for collecting all referenced files from an assembly or drawing and creating copies of the files to save in a new location, to share with others, renaming files, etc. Pack and Go is fairly straightforward to use. This article explains how to use it and its different options.

SOLIDWORKS PDM Feb 23, 2026

To search for a SOLIDWORKS PDM variable and have it appear on column sets, it needs to be in your data card first. But what if showing it adds no value to your data cards? This article demonstrates how to include the variable in the data card while keeping it hidden.

SWOOD Feb 23, 2026

This guide provides instructions for installing and activating a new SWOOD Network License to be used with SOLIDWORKS. SWOOD is compatible with the last 2 years of SOLIDWORKS versions. For example, SWOOD 2024 would be compatible with SOLIDWORKS 2022 until SOLIDWORKS 2024.

SOLIDWORKS CAD Feb 19, 2026

SOLIDWORKS is a very graphics-intensive program, so it's best to ensure that your graphics card is certified and the settings are set to achieve the best performance. It may be a good idea to involve your IT team in these steps, as many of them will require administrative computer permissions.

When searching for documents within SOLIDWORKS, the software references a list of search paths, located in System Options > File Locations > Search Path. In addition to the defaults, you can easily add additional search paths. Unfortunately, it's not always so easy to remove them. This article explains how to add and remove stubborn search paths in SOLIDWORKS.
